DIY Dishwasher Detergent

Last week I made this DIY dishwasher detergent recipe I had seen on Pinterest from a few different websites. After a full week of using it I am very pleased with its results. My dishes all come out clean and sparkly just as if I had used the packets I used to. This cost approx .6 cents a load compared to store-bought detergent being .20 cents a load.

Dishwashing detergent DIY

2 c borax
2 c Arm & Hammer washing soda
1 c lemi shine or 2 cups if you have hard water. (found in Canada at Canadian Tire in Canada and all over the USA)
1 c kosher salt

Mix all ingredients together

Store in a container with a lid (try not to store it in a high moisture area of your home as it may cause clumping)

Use one tbsp per load placing it in the compartment you would normally put your packet.

Notes: I also use vinegar as a rinse aid instead of JetDry, but it is recommended to not put it in your dishwashers rinse aid compartment as it may cause damage to the rubber. Simply pour one cup of vinegar onto the bottom of your dishwasher before running the cycle.
